MDEQ announces the Beach Outfalls Challenge Semi-finalists

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality is happy to announce the 12 semi-finalists for the Beach Outfalls Challenge!
In alphabetical order, the Beach Outfalls Challenge semifinalists are:
- A Sound Choice
- Allen Engineering and Science
- Anchor QEA
- Ian Hunter Land Arch
- NEW SEA (on-beach solution)
- SALT (in-stream and on-beach solution)
- Shallow, Open Water Wetlands
- Sustainable Outfall Solutions
For the next phase of the Challenge, the semi-finalists will create five minute videos that detail their design idea and explain how it will improve the water quality of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Public voting for the best solution will begin on May 19 on www.beachoutfallschallenge.org.
Additionally, the semi-finalist’s design ideas will undergo a more rigorous logistics review. The final score to determine who moves on to the finals will be weighted as follows:
- Design Submission (50%)
- Video Voting (15%)
- Logistical Review (35%)
